The fall of Emmanuel Macron according to the latest survey: how to explain it?

According to this poll, 65% of French people are dissatisfied with the president’s actions. Since February 2020, i.e. before the Covid-19 crisis, Emmanuel Macron has lost 3 more points in a month. Currently, 34% of French people say they are satisfied with its performance

It should be noted that business has not fared well for its Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne, as the latter has registered 64% dissatisfaction, up from 59% last December.

But how to explain this drop in the vote for the president and his prime minister? It has been revealed that BFM-TVCiting figures provided by JDD, the pension reform plan announced by the government is going down badly with the French.

Last Thursday and This Saturday, there have also been large demonstrations against this reform in France. And when we examine the survey data more closely, we can see that some segments of the population are less accepting than others.

Thus, according to the Ifop results revealed by JDD, 31% of 50-64-year-olds are satisfied with the President, and 40% of those over 65. Macron’s popularity drops again among 25-34 year olds, reaching 29% in this category, a loss of 10 points in a month!

In terms of socio-professional categories, only 23% of the unemployed are satisfied with Macron, which represents a loss of 15 points. The decline is also spectacular on the executive side, where the leader lost 14 points to only 37% satisfaction.
