Going on vacation this weekend? Warning…

Next weekend corresponds to the first weekend of the school holidays in French-speaking Belgium, as it does in France. Touring expects difficult traffic in Europe on Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8, with some slowdowns (orange color code), or very difficult going south inland (red code), the organization said in a press release on Monday. Sunday is carefree (green) and as far as income is concerned, no problem is expected.

In Belgium, traffic will be heavy on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, with the risk of traffic jams towards the coast and the Ardennes (orange) on the E411, according to Touring. The E17 Antwerp-Lille and E19 Antwerp-Brussels-Mons-Valenciennes highways towards Paris are very busy but less congested. On Friday, traffic may be heavy on the Brussels and Antwerp rings throughout the day.

For France, Touring predicts very difficult traffic with traffic jams this Friday (red) and in the north-west of France (Brittany – Normandy) on Saturday (red) in the direction of departure from Paris. Elsewhere in France, traffic is heaviest on Fridays and Saturdays, with less traffic at the generally congested points (orange) heading south.

In Italy and Spain, Touring expects heavy but steady traffic on Friday and Sunday (yellow). Only Saturday will be more difficult, with some traffic jams on holiday roads (orange). In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, traffic should be heavy with some minor (orange) traffic jams on Friday and Saturday, according to Turing.
