It was an emotional day at Yankee Stadium on Friday, as the Yankees honored the memory of Kathy Tociani, wife of the team's senior vice president of partnerships, Michael Tociani.

Before the game, Aaron Boone became emotional while speaking about Cathy Tosiani, who died when her car struck a fallen tree during Wednesday's storm in Armonk.

As he finished his pre-match press conference, Boone spoke about Tossianis' team and became choked up and had to pause several times before being overcome with emotion.

“I just want to quickly say: With all the excitement we have on opening day, we're reminded all the time about perspective,” Boone said. “At the end of the day, this is our livelihood, it's really important, but it's just a game. Our family, our Yankee family… [have] Heavy hearts today. As you know, Michael Tosiani lost his wife, Cathy. So we will play for them today and throughout the season.”

The Yankees also honored Cathy Tosiani with a moment of silence before the game. Tosiani, a mother of two children, was 50 years old.
