War in Ukraine: Russia says it has repelled an attack by Ukraine on one of its ships in the Black Sea.

Ukrainian authorities on Sunday raised the death toll from flooding after a dam was destroyed, leaving six people dead and 35 missing in areas under their control. In the Russian-occupied territories, Moscow-appointed authorities this week reported eight dead and 13 missing in connection with the same tragedy.

The destruction of the Khakovka dam on the Dnieper on Tuesday brought rain to towns and villages along the river, including the regional capital Kherson, which was recaptured by Ukrainian troops in November. Both sides blame each other for the disaster, which affected both banks of the Dnieper, each controlled by a warring faction. According to Interior Minister Igor Klymenko, 77 locations were flooded, including 14 in the territories under Russian occupation.

In a message on Telegram, he said a total of 35 people, including six dead and seven children, were missing in the two regions. In areas controlled by Ukraine, 3,700 people were evacuated. Of those occupied by the Russians, local authorities say they have evacuated more than 7,000. Mr. According to Klymenko, 162,000 people are without water upstream of the destroyed hydroelectric dam.
