A representative of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) told Al Jazeera channel that three drone strikes on a US military base in Al-Tanf, Syria left several US soldiers with “non-hospitalizing” injuries.
According to the Iraqi news site Shafaq News, the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” movement, including Shiite fighters who have previously fought with Islamic State terrorists, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The US representative of the command in Iraq confirmed to the website that three drones attacked the military base, two of which were shot down by ground-to-air fire.
On October 18, fighters from the Iraqi branch of the Shiite Hezbollah militia fired rockets at a US military base located in the Syrian province of Ez-Zor. On the same day, a Centcom representative told Shafaq News that drone attacks on Ain-el-Assad air base in Iraq’s Anbar province and Harir base in Erbil had been repelled. No details were provided about the nature of these attacks.
