But a new ranking has created a list of the world’s 20 most beautiful villages, revealed by media specialist in travel and outdoor activities, Time Out. The ranking was established based on the popularity of villages on Instagram, the number of likes, positive comments and photo shares.

A village on a hill
If we believe the results, Simiane-la-Rotonde is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the world. He is ranked twentieth. With less than 700 souls, it is located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, between Ventoux, Mount Lure and Lubétron. It has the distinction of being located on a hill overlooking lavender fields in summer. A setting worthy of a real postcard.
Simiane-la Rotonde is worth a visit for its beautiful cobbled streets, so typical of Provence. Don’t hesitate to stop at its medieval castle, built at the end of the 12th century. It is one of the centers of interest of the village. Five rooms are open for visitors. A few kilometers from Simiane-la-Rotonde is Le Jardin de l’Abbaye de Valsaintes. The first place is occupied by a village known to everyone because it is the Cinque Terre in Italy. The place consists of five villages whose houses are colorful. In second place is Rein, a small fishing village in the south of the Lofoten archipelago in Norway. Finally, Oia, on the island of Santorini in Greece, completed the stage. The village is world famous for its white and blue colored houses.
Consider Colmar’s fifth place, closer to us. The existence of this Alsatian region is debatable, as Colmar is more of a medium-sized city than a village of 70,000 inhabitants.
