Eva Evans, the TikTok star known for her videos about living in New York City and creator of the “Club Rat” web series, has died. She was 29 years old.
Evans' sister, Laila Joy, announced the news on a live broadcast Instagram share Sunday. The cause of death was not revealed.
“Yesterday my family received news that my beautiful sister, Eva, who was beautiful, wonderful, creative, caring and funny,” Joy wrote. “24 hours later, I still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so I know how hard this news is to believe and how difficult it is to deal with… I wish Eva were here now to point it out because she would have better words and know how to say what not to say. ”
Evans has amassed over 300,000 followers on TikTok and has used her platform to create comedic and informative content about life as a woman in her 20s in New York City. One of her most popular videos was to predict viewers which New York City neighborhood they should live in based on their zodiac signs. She also created a web series called “Club Rat,” which follows an influencer who “is trying to get back into New York City’s messy dating scene after an explicit video of her humiliating breakup goes viral,” according to its synopsis. It is available for streaming on Prime Video.
TikTok was filled with tributes to Evans on Sunday, including from Julia Fox. “She was a TikTok star and a New York icon. “I always saw her as a little sister and I knew she looked up to me.” he said in a tear-jerking video. It was so small. He still has a lot to do in life. But she lived life to the fullest.”
News of Evans' death comes about a week after the death of Kyle Marissa Roth, another popular TikTok creator known for her Hollywood videos.
