The Office stars John Krasinski and Steve Carell shine in the IF trailer

It's been a long time coming.

In a new promotional advertisement for his directorial project if, John Krasinski and Steve Carell met for the first time years ago. “The reunion is so cool!” the A quiet place the director wrote in a social media post.

“[Carell] “He happens to be a dear friend,” Krasinski says in the video. “We've actually been working together on this little thing for a long time.”

The footage shows Krasinski and Carell embracing in the recording studio. “It's good to see you,” Krasinski says. “Oh my God,” Carell replies. “I was just telling you guys – has it been years?” Krasinski asks. “I'm glad we got it,” Carell joked as he pointed to the camera. “This is very intimate.”

“I love that this is the fifth take and you did a great job with that,” Krasinski said, prompting Carell to head back to the door to return the salute. “So anyway, I haven't seen Steve in geez, it must be-.” The director takes a sip of water as Carell comes back into the room and shouts: “Oh my God!” This causes Krasinski to snap a shot for the camera. “You look very beautiful, by the way,” Krasinski comments. “You too. Anyway…” Karel answers.

IF explores a world where children's imaginary friends (or IFs, for short) are real. Carell plays the lead IF named Blue.

Carell and Krasinski starred the desk Together for seven seasons from 2005 to 2011.

if It also stars Cailee Fleming, Ryan Reynolds, Louis Gossett Jr., Matt Damon, George Clooney, Maya Rudolph, Bradley Cooper, Amy Schumer, Blake Lively, Awkwafina, Richard Jenkins, Krasinski, and his wife Emily Blunt. The film is in theaters on May 17.
