CBS Late show He will be on an unplanned hiatus after Thanksgiving after host Stephen Colbert said he is recovering following surgery for a ruptured appendix.

“Sorry to say I will have to cancel our shows this week,” the statement begins. “I’m sure you’re thinking, ‘Turkey overdose, Steve?’ Will the gravy boat capsize? In fact, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix. I am grateful to my doctors for their care and to Evie and the kids for putting up with me. From now on, all emails I get to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas.
Late Show It was scheduled to return Tuesday evening with new episodes. Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, Sir Patrick Stewart, Barbra Streisand and Kelsey Grammer were among the guests scheduled to appear.
Additionally, Jon Batiste, who was Colbert’s first bandleader and departed the show last year, was scheduled to return to the show as a guest star and musical guest on Wednesday.
A ruptured appendix is the second medical problem to snub new episodes of the Late Show in the past two months. In October, the show canceled a week of programming as Colbert recovered from his bout with coronavirus.
And of course the Late show It was dark all summer due to the WGA strike.
