The ONE Smart Piano Company has introduced the world’s first Apple MFi-certified Smart Piano. It has made appearances on Yahoo, CNN, the Huffington Post, the Verge, Men’s Health, USA Today, and the Economist just to name a few influential media outlets, and boasted the CES innovations award in 2016.

This piece of music hardware is an 88–key home digital grand piano that pioneers a new and easy way to learn music without paying for private instruction, or going to the music school. Attaching your smart device using a provided cable (USB to lightning and USB to micro-USB) allows you to use the app to browse interactive video lessons, LED light-guided sheet music, and piano games. Following the lights, almost anyone can start playing their first song in as little as a few minutes.

The ONE Smart Piano helps you learn a piano piece within a very short period of time. The company’s website promises that after five minutes of enjoyable practice you could be playing piano for the first time in your life. It is a perfect match for your tablet or mobile phone because learning happens while you are playing games without realization.

With the synced LED lights lying on the keyboard, a beginner musician can start to play an introductory level music learning from various modes, including light-up sheet music, integrated video lessons, piano games, and Crash Course for free. A fast track for beginner allows you to learn a song in a few hours - just follow the well-designed learning steps with hand gesture videos and section exercise, and learn to play ‘Happy Birthday’ in just two hours, ‘Fur Elise’ in one day and much more.

The device accommodates professional musicians too, and they can have equal fun by choosing from thousands of free sheet music and over 128-instrument sound, plus MIDI input/output to play. Choosing from thousands of sheet music samples allows you to learn and/or practice various music styles, from classical to pop, jazz & blues, and much more. Use ‘auto-play’ to learn the melody, or ‘A-B repeat’ function to focus and practice, and users can also record and share their achievements on Facebook anytime.

There are over 100 free video lessons integrated with lights help you learn everything from the basics of the piano mastery to more advanced topics. Pause, rewind or slow down any lesson to take things at your own pace. The LED lights on the keyboard work with the app and light up to show which keys to press, and it will wait until you hit the right notes before move onto the next.

In addition to the main four sections of the app, there is a not-so-obvious but super useful section called “Learning Tools.” From the home screen of the app, select any of the four sections and then select the “three horizontal lines” icon in the upper-left corner of the screen to access the app sidebar. Click on the “My Account” button and within your accounts page, there is a “Learning Tools” button. Learning Tools gives you some really great additional learning resources. Ear Training presents you with the audio from either a single note or multiple notes and then quizzes you on what you just heard. This helps you gain an ear for notes and chords, really handy when playing with other musicians. The Score Reading section gives you a customizable interface and then presents you a series of notes that you must play on the physical keys, an excellent way to sharpen your sheet music reading skills.

The piano is equipped with professional stereo sound, classic wooden look and weighted keys that are always experts’ favorites. Blended with technical controls via the app, classic features include built-in metronome and volume control. It will cost 1500$ to buy one, but think about the possibilities – it is a great educational gift for kids and, using this device yourself, you just might wake up the inner Mozart that has slumbered until now.
