Schefter told McAfee that McCaffrey will play against the Vikings

Adam Schefter joins Pat McAfee to discuss Christian McCaffrey’s availability against the Vikings.

San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey will play Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

McCaffrey was listed as questionable for the game after suffering an oblique injury during last Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Browns. The two-time Pro Bowl selection returned to practice as a limited participant on Saturday after missing the previous two practices and said afterward that he felt “good.”

Sources told Schefter that McCaffrey had a team of people working on his injury all week, almost around the clock. However, he also did not take a single hit in training all week, so while he plays, no one knows how he will feel or react when he is tackled.

McCaffrey aims to extend his streak of consecutive games (including the playoffs) with touchdowns to 16, which would be the second-longest streak in NFL history, trailing only former Baltimore Colts running back Lenny Moore, whose touchdown streak reached 17 Between 1963 and 1963. The ’64 seasons.

McCaffrey has not missed a game since the 49ers acquired him from the Carolina Panthers on October 20, 2022.

The 49ers will be without wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who is suffering from a hairline fracture in his shoulder suffered against the Browns. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday that Samuel will miss at least the next two weeks before Week 9 in San Francisco.

San Francisco will also be without left tackle Trent Williams, sources told Schefter. Williams was listed as questionable with a sprained right ankle, which he also suffered against Cleveland.

ESPN’s Nick Wagner contributed to this report.
