Tre Lance is the quarterback for the 49ers, and Jimmy Garoppolo is his backup.
That’s a fact, but NBC Sports’ Peter King thinks it might not last long.
In King’s Sunday column “Football Morning in America” Expect Garoppolo to take over Lance is under position in the 49ers’ week seven game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I guess I don’t want to be a negative intent here,” King wrote. “I really don’t hate the San Francisco Convention to bring back Jimmy Garoppolo.”

Kittle, Warner, Armstead and Samuel all sang the praises of the Lance throughout the holiday, along with countless other members of the 49ers roster, front office, and coaching staff. They all know for sure that a first year freshman will run into some problems along the way throughout the year.

But King begs the question: “What if?”

In football, anything is possible. If any potential problems for the Lance persist throughout the season, the 49ers have a Super Bowl-caliber roster ready to win the sixth Vince Lombardi Cup of the franchise, and a call for Garoppolo is out of the question.
