Summit in Jordan to raise funds for Gaza
Jordan will host an international conference on Tuesday aimed at raising funds for humanitarian aid for Palestinians devastated by the eight-month war.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who began a new tour of the Middle East on Monday, will attend the conference, which is co-organized by the United Nations, Jordan and Egypt.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other leaders, as well as UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths and NGO heads, are expected to attend.
Much of the Gaza Strip has been reduced to rubble and most of its 2.4 million residents have been displaced by the fighting. The UN has been warning of the threat of famine in Gaza for months.

Humanitarian aid has been pouring into the area, especially since the Israeli army launched a ground operation in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, in early May and captured the Palestinian enclave via Egypt, where most aid has gone.
