The unbearable situation these two retirees faced for more than a year. In April 2022 they were evicted from their rental due to their debt, leaving Alain and Giselle with only their car to live in.

Because of his debts, Alain can no longer apply for social housing. “I was evicted three times, one of them because I didn’t pay my rent anymore and the accommodation was indecent. Then I made a file to keep the HLM, because I was evicted again and again, the social landlords block,” the septuagenarian testifies in the columns of France Bleu.

With a pension of 1,200 euros a month for two, it has become impossible for Alain and Giselle to find accommodation. EHPAD was the only solution that Red Cross Social Services found. “There is no question of going there. I still keep my head, after all we have to part with our little dog, it’s unimaginable”, laments Alain.

So their entire life now revolves around their Renault Twingo, which they park in the town hall parking lot. “At night, my wife can sleep a little, but I’m always awake,” explains Alain.

Very touched by the situation of the two retirees, the association “La Maison du Coeur” and the residents of Vauvert came together to help Alain and Giselle. “We are trying to find them food, laundry and, above all, shelter because there are a lot of them in the city. Everyone has the right to a roof over their head,” explains Benjamin, a resident of Wovert, who started an appeal on social networks.
