Gerwig and his Barbie squad tried to keep the movie’s plot hidden from audiences, but when photos and videos of them in Los Angeles went viral last year, fans began to learn about the film’s plot.

“I can’t tell you how scared we were, by the way,” Robbie told Jimmy Fallon last year of the set of photos that garnered widespread attention online. “We seem to be laughing and having fun, but inside we are dying. Death. I was like, This is the most humiliating moment of my life.”
