Israel-Palestine conflict: Nearly 100,000 people take to London streets to show their support for Palestine

Tens of thousands of people? Up to 100,000 according to police estimates? As they did last weekend, they took to the streets of London on Saturday to show their support for the Palestinian cause.

The new demonstration comes on the day the first twenty trucks carrying humanitarian aid from Egypt entered the Palestinian territory. After the Hamas attack on October 7, Israel imposed a total blockade on the Gaza Strip, making the situation extremely dangerous for the 2.4 million Palestinians.

Demonstrators marching in particular chanting “Free Palestine” also display banners hostile to Israel and Palestinian flags. However, police had warned ahead of the march that anyone supporting Hamas, a terrorist organization banned in Britain, would be arrested.

The protest ends outside Downing Street, where the British Prime Minister’s offices and official residence are located. Apart from London, pro-Palestine demonstrations were also held in Birmingham and Manchester on Saturday.
