Hackers have leaked the personal information of more than 1,000 judges since the riots Death of Nahal

A complaint was filed on Monday after the personal data of 1,121 magistrates was leaked by hackers, the French justice ministry told AFP, whose claim implied urban violence after Nahal’s death.

A complaint has been filed with the Paris prosecutor’s office for “harm to an automated data processing system,” confirming information from the Numerama site. The ministry, without elaborating, said it was “old data” and that “the hacking did not target justice ministry servers”.

Professional e-mails, telephone numbers, postal addresses, even IBAN: in an Excel file, AFP has knowledge, contains the personal data of 1,121 magistrates. The file contains the names of judges who are still active, though some have now retired, AFP noted.

“Help the Protesters”

A group of hackers known as KromSec claimed responsibility for the attack on its Telegram channel on Sunday evening, while making a veiled reference to the urban violence that has rocked France for nearly a week.

“Events in France will determine whether we release the data or not,” they warned. “The French government must eliminate racism from its police forces or collective Anonymous (a group of hackers, editor’s note) will come to the aid of the demonstrators,” KromSec tweeted on Sunday. The hacker group decided to release the data on Monday morning when other hacker groups claimed responsibility for the cyber attack and tried to resell it.
