Government-provided “purchasing power” bonus: what does it consist of and who can benefit from it?

As part of the negotiations for the 2023-2024 contract, the government has offered workers a purchasing power bonus from May 1, 2023. What exactly is this?

First, What is this bonus and who is entitled to it? ?

This bonus is available from June 1 and its maximum amount is 750 euros. Maximum because it depends on departmental negotiations and company profitability. The advantage for the company is that the employer’s contribution is reduced, which is much lower than the salary and is 100% exempt.

The benefit to the beneficiary is exemption from social charges and taxes. So net to worker.

Who can feel it?

They concern employees and workers of all companies. On the other hand, self-employed, liberal professions and unemployed are excluded.

If awarded, the Purchasing Power Bonus will be paid in one installment, in the form of a paper check or in electronic form. Like food vouchers and environmental vouchers, it can be spent on food purchases or environmental goods and services.

Please note, this bonus is not mandatory but is negotiable. And time is running out, because the deadline is December 31, 2023: after that, it will be too late. On the other hand, if you benefit from it, you can spend this popular bonus till December 31, 2024.
