CHARLOTTE – Uptown Charlotte will be permanently closed this week.
Green’s Lunch on West 4th Street has been in business since 1926 and has been run by the same family for more than four decades.

On Monday, the restaurant’s owner, Joanna Sikyotis, told Channel 9 that staffing, a downturn in business and the recent death of her husband led to her decision to close.
“To tell you the truth, it’s not in me anymore,” said Sikyotis. “I just want to go home.”
However, Sikiotis hinted that the agents may not have seen her last.
“What the future holds, I don’t know. I still have the name. I still have the chili recipe and you never know. I’m keeping the website open, so maybe you’ll hear from us.”
The restaurant broke the news on social media, thanking its loyal customers for years of support.
“We want to thank our loyal customers for these amazing 97 years and also for the love and support you gave us during our recent loss. We will always remember your smiles, hugs and laughter; you will remain in our hearts as family. Thank you!”
Green Lunch will permanently close its doors on Wednesday, June 28th.
