The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is a wild SUV with a more powerful engine. The Tesla Model Y still performs quickly but it certainly doesn’t look or feel like it belongs in this competition. It might surprise you, though, how they act in U-shaped clouds against each other.

U-shaped clouds are basically exactly what they sound like. Both cars start from the pits and do a full quarter mile drag race before having to do a U-turn and get back to the starting line as fast as they can. It tests acceleration, cornering and braking in one elegant competition.

In this particular race, we are talking about two SUVs that cannot be completely opposite each other. The Durango has 710 hp (529 kW), weighs 5,567 lbs, and costs $90,000. The Tesla weighs less at 4,419 pounds but produces only 456 horsepower (340 kilowatts). On the other hand, it would only cost a person about $61,000.

On paper, these items don’t look quite the same and are clearly aimed at very different demographics. On the track, they both put on a show. In the first race, the SRT car got off the line faster and held the lead until the end of the quarter mile. Despite this, the Tesla brakes and the two go head-to-head in the corner.

The Model Y Performance is more tenacious and manages to come out of the corner first and take the victory. In race two, the electric car is more dominant as it pulls off the line first, hits the brakes quicker, then dusts off the Durango on its way to a 2-0 victory.

That doesn’t mean Dodge is a loser though. Her best quarter mile time was faster than the best time set by Tesla. No doubt he also looks better and has a lot more personality. Really, owners of both of them are winners since they are both extremely fast for their dimensions and weight.
