Apple’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro renders and design features continue to leak, and now the company’s surprise release predictions and official new iPhone lineup have also been revealed.
in Blog postInfluential analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple expects the iPhone 15 Pro Max to account for up to 40% of all early iPhone 15 sales when it launches in September.
“The iPhone 15 Pro Max, the most expensive iPhone, represents 35 to 40% of iPhone 15 series shipments, which is the highest share,” he explains. “iPhone 15 Pro Max shipments in the second half of 2024 also increased by 10-20% year-on-year compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the same period. This means that Apple is optimistic about the selling point of the periscope, which is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
This is surprising for two reasons. First, production of the iPhone 15 Pro Max was expected to be severely restricted due to display issues related to the periscope zoom lens. Second, the new model will be Apple’s most expensive iPhone ever, with leaks claiming its price starts at $1,299.
Either way, it’s clear that the launch is near as a second new iPhone has been officially registered in India’s official regulatory database.
It was discovered again by My Smart PriceJust weeks after the A3094 was discovered, the site revealed another listing for the A3090. Both phones sit above the iPhone 14 lineup, which carries model numbers A2649, A2881, A2882, A2883, and A2884. Registration of new electronic devices before release is a legal requirement in India, something that even Apple’s secrecy cannot escape.
Furthermore, the sequence indicates that the two new models are the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but component variants (suppliers of memory, storage, etc.) mean – as with the iPhone 14 series – that there will likely be more models. Figures from the four official models.
In the end, the important point in these leaks is the iPhone 15 Pro Max. If Apple expects to be a best-selling model, its new periscope lens should really be something. Early buyers tend to be the iPhone’s biggest fans, which can skew the numbers (sales of standard iPhone models tend to catch up later in their life cycle), but it’s still an eye-catching finding during a cost-of-living crisis.
This is especially true given that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will essentially be iPhone 14 Pro models, with a Dynamic Island design, a 48-megapixel primary camera, an A16 chip, and a USB-C port at a lower price. The main differences between the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are the ultra-thin bezels, the next-generation 3nm A17 chipset, and the programmable solid-state action button.
That could be a tougher sell than Apple expects.
Update 31/08: Apple’s announcement date for the iPhone 15 lineup is now official. The company has invited journalists to a “Wonderlust” event on September 12, starting at 10 a.m. PT. The event will be broadcast from Apple Park, California, and can be viewed online at apple.com.
And of course, the invitation contains the traditional teaser: the Apple logo consisting of inflated particles in different shades of metallic colors. This means that leaker Unknownz21 did not take it work out:
“I might also point out the obvious here, the colors used for this – they match 15 professional colours. Not exactly accurate if you ask me, lol.
Unknownz21 was at the front of the queue when he revealed that Apple would be introducing a new dark blue color for the iPhone. Some reports have claimed that the champion’s color will be dark red before a consensus on Unknownz21 information is reached this month, and the invitation’s blue hints do nothing to change that confidence.
As for my own theory, the sandblasted build of the Apple logo is actually titanium grains. The texture feels right for the material, and the stronger, lighter body will be a big selling point for the new iPhone 15 Pro models. Combine this with the iPhone Pro-focused color palette, and I agree with Unknownz21, Apple isn’t quite subtle this time around.
Update 09/01: It looks like Unknownz21 was on the money again. New leaks on weibo, observer by MacroMors revealed more about the new Apple S-shaped iPhone 15 Pro wallpaper. Meanwhile, two reliable sources revealed that Apple will be moving away from long-lasting leather iPhone cases.
First, the new iPhone 15 Pro wallpaper is laid out Mocked Written by Supercharged writer Willian Fikes, following a leak from Apple’s Chinese supply chain, and available for download. This could mean that iPhone fans are already using iPhone 15 Pro wallpapers weeks before the phones are announced.
As for the cases, they are credible leaks Duanrui revealed that Apple may be working on a fabric alternative to leather cases this year for the iPhone 15 lineup. Insiders claim that the new material will be marketed as “FineWoven” and will share sample images of how it will look.
Apple has had a leg up here, with the company using the word “woven” to describe some Apple Watch bands. Bloomberg Mark Gurman also later books Which:
In another move toward sustainability, Apple plans to use new materials to replace leather in some new iPhone cases and other accessories, other people familiar with the matter said.
The move away from leather is likely to be welcomed by most parties, with alternatives such as vegan leather now widely adopted in the automotive industry. Needless to say, if Apple promotes this material, many copies can be expected to be made by third parties, whether for competing iPhones or Android devices.
