IRussian President Vladimir Putin on Monday suspended the simplified visa process for European delegates and journalists. The move comes in response to sanctions imposed on Russia by the European Union.

The move is triggered by “the need to respond to anti-EU actions,” it said.

Significantly, agreements have been suspended allowing representatives and journalists from member states of the European Union, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein to obtain visas relatively quickly and easily. This process will take more time now.

In addition, Vladimir Putin has instructed his foreign minister to deny entry to foreigners who have committed “hostile” acts against Russia.

Earlier, Moscow had imposed similar sanctions on key Western leaders such as US President Joe Biden.
