Vote at the UN: Massive support for Ukraine, increasing isolation for Russia

LAt the United Nations General Assembly, Russia tried everything until the last second to block the vote on the resolution condemning the illegal annexation of Ukraine’s territories. First, by suggesting that the vote be kept secret. The proposal was rejected by 107 of the 193 states in the Assembly on Monday, October 10, with 13 in favor and 39 abstentions.

Striving, 65 states requested to go to a referendum before opening the table for public debate. Moscow’s goal was to silence the chorus of protests against its territorial gains in Ukraine. Again, the attempt failed.
