The Vampire drones, manufactured in Ukraine, can carry up to 15 kg of various types of explosives. “They are equipped with a thermal camera, so they can attack enemies even at night,” says Deputy Prime Minister of Innovation, Education Development, Science and Technology and Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov in a video shared on his Twitter account.

According to him, the army can use these drones to destroy not only armored vehicles and tanks, but also enemy defences, fortifications and ammunition depots. “Now the Ukrainian army will be able to track down invaders much better,” he adds.

Drone Army

Vampires are part of Ukraine’s special drone army, known as the Drone Army. It is an initiative of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security of Ukraine, and United24, a platform run by the Ukrainian government that raises funds for the war in Ukraine.

The program is dedicated to acquisition of unmanned aircraft, their maintenance and replacement and training of pilots. “With an army of drones, we can continuously monitor the 2,470-kilometer front line and effectively respond to enemy attacks,” the country explains.
