The Michigan Wolverines earned their third straight win Ohio State To remain undefeated, but it doesn’t seem to matter to the computers as they remain at No. 2 in the latest ESPN FPI rankings.
The Wolverines have continued to prove the computers wrong all year, and they did it again on Saturday with a 30-24 win over the Buckeyes. Computers are supposed to be an exact science, but they still baffle fans across the country, especially in Michigan.
Oregon State was just behind Michigan, moving up two spots to third. The Ducks are 10 places ahead of Washington, a team they lost to earlier this year. They will get a rematch on Friday in the Pac-12 Championship.
Penn State, despite two losses, moved up two spots to fourth place. Clearly, the PCs loved their closeout win Michigan State On Friday night.
Georgia, the No. 1 team in the CFP, is in fifth place after surviving a tough game against its rival Georgia Tech. Alabama, which pulled off a miracle win over Auburn, is sixth. The Crimson Tide has a one-point lead over Texas, which they lost to earlier this year.
The PCs clearly don’t care about head-to-head confrontations, and exactly what they value is still up for debate. What’s not up for debate is that the Wolverines are 12-0 for the second straight year and will play in the Big Ten Championship for the third straight year.
