The Detroit Lions are in danger of losing another key member of the Leaders front office

The Detroit Lions could be in danger of losing another key member of their front office. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, R.JThe Washington leaders are hiring Lions senior director of football management Brandon Sosna. Garafolo describes the job as a “high-level front office” role, but doesn’t specify exactly what they have in mind for Sosna.

This would be a very big loss for the Lions front office, as Lions general manager Brad Holmes recently praised Sosna multiple times during his media sessions.

“Last year was his first free agency, and I thought he did a great job,” Holmes said in March. “This year, he knocked it out of the park again. Just through all these deals, Dan (Campbell) and I can communicate with him about these guys that we’re targeting. But it’s Sosna who gets those deals done, with Mike Dessner.”

Sosna worked closely with salary cap and player contracts, which was essential for Detroit’s 2024 offseason. Just last month, the Lions inked new contracts with quarterback Jared Goff, receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, and offensive tackle Penei Sewell, Sousna played a big role in this.

The Lions hired Sosna less than two years ago after a mix of experience at the college and pro levels. He was an expert on hats Cleveland Browns for a few years before landing with USC as chief of staff for athletics.

If the Lions lose Sosna, he would be the third member of the front office hired by another team in the past year — and the second to be poached by a Washington captain this offseason. In February, the Leaders hired Lance Newmark — who has been with the Lions for 26 years — to be the next assistant general manager. Last year, the Lions lost Dave Sears when the Arizona Cardinals hired him as their new assistant general manager.

Long story short: The Lions front office is highly regarded and highly sought after.

However, the Lions recently signed two highly touted members of their front office: Dwayne Joseph and Tom Roth. They haven’t been officially hired yet, so we don’t have job titles for them yet.
