Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Character builder It’s an expansive game, but sometimes you spend hours in there and still wish you could change things when you enter the same game and see your hero moving. Up until this point, Larian Studios has locked your appearance after you hit confirm in the character creator, but with Patch 3, the game will finally allow you to change some aspects of your character’s appearance, but not all.

The patch, which is scheduled to go live tomorrow, September 22, adds the Magic Mirror to your camp. This tool allows you to change your character’s face, voice, and pronouns, but it does not allow you to change your race or body type. So, if you’re playing a shorter human and want a taller Dragonborn, that’s beyond the scope of Magic Mirror’s ability. Short kings should still be short kings, and it also makes sense that you wouldn’t be able to change your race, given how much it affects your character’s standing in the world and their relationships with other people. You also cannot use this on any of the original party characters/members. And that’s a good thing, why mess with perfection (Karlash)?

Larian’s character creation tool is very extensive, and I and other players spent hours using it before properly starting the game. Honestly, placing a magical portal to return to within your camp is like putting cheese in a mousetrap. But I know there are some people who held off on playing the game further until Larian added this feature, so hopefully they can fine-tune their characters to their liking and get back to pulling tadpoles out of their heads.
