Seahawks sign WR Laviska Shenault Jr

The Seahawks signed receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. on Tuesday.

Shenault, 25, played college football at the University of Colorado and was a second-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020. In his first two seasons, Shenault recorded consecutive 600-plus rushing seasons, five touchdowns and 121 receptions.

In 2022, Shenault was traded to the Panthers, where he has been ever since. Shenault helped add versatility to the Panthers' offense, as he was used at a hybrid position, either at receiver or running back.

“I think Seattle is a good place because this is going to be a tough team,” Shenault said. “I play with some aggression and I think that's a big thing.”

During his career, he played 51 matches. Last season, he played in just eight games, after suffering an ankle injury and being placed on injured reserve in November.

And at Shenault, Seahawks fans can expect to get a “dog, hardworking, hungry and sophisticated Visca.”

Shenault also has experience as a kicker — the Panthers used him at that position in all eight games he played last season.

“I'm proud of that,” Shenault said of his ability to play multiple roles. “Because there aren't a lot of players who can do a lot of things and be very effective, and I like to do what I'm asked. Whatever I can do to help the team get a W, that's a W for me.”
