Princess Anne is said to have suffered memory loss after suffering head injuries following a horse-related incident over the weekend.
Princess Royal, 73, spent a second night in hospital on Monday, where doctors conducted tests on her after it was found that she had suffered a concussion.
Her memory loss, which is a direct result of the accident, is believed to be temporary. Telegraph Reports.
Princess Anne’s husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence, was asked about his wife’s health as he left hospital this morning.
“She’s fine. Slow but sure,” he told reporters outside the hospital in a video. Subscribed to X.
Lawrence also brought Anne some snacks from home.
The beloved princess – and King Charles’ only sister – was reportedly struck by a horse while out for a walk on the grounds of her palace in Gatcombe Park on Sunday evening.
Princess Anne’s husband, Lawrence, as well as her daughter, Zara Tindall, and her son, Peter Phillips, were in the house at the time of the accident.
Other senior members of the royal family were notified of Anne’s injuries on Sunday night.
Anne — the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s only daughter — canceled all her official duties scheduled this week, including a state visit and a trip to Canada.
“On the advice of doctors, Her Royal Highness’s engagements will be postponed until next week. Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to anyone who may be upset or disappointed as a result,” her spokesperson said.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold told The Post exclusively that Anne could be absent from her royal duties for weeks, adding that her absence would have a “huge impact on her.”
It’s no secret that she’s an experienced and accomplished racer – having won the European Three-Day Individual event in Burghley in 1971.
This is not the first time Anne has suffered memory loss as a result of a horse-related accident.
At the 1976 Olympics in Montreal – where she represented Great Britain – the 26-year-old suffered a bad jump that caused her to fall.
She later described her memory as “almost non-existent that day.”
Earlier this month, the Princess Royal rode on horseback during King Charles’ Trooping the Colour.
