Pokémon launches its official community forums and it’s already a disaster

The Pokémon Company recently launched official community forums on their website, allowing trainers to stay up to date on the latest news, discuss all things Pokémon, and even help out other community members.

Although it seems like a great way for coaches to interact with each other, the forums really need some serious moderation. Spam is currently being sent to all kinds of subjects. In the “General” section, there are posts asking trainers what Pokemon they eat with a number of questionable topics. This is just a small sample:

Some trainers refer to it as “Miiverse 2.0”. Fortunately, the discussion seems to be on the topic in other areas, such as the trading card game section.

According to the forum’s official rules and guidelines, the goal of the forum is to encourage users to contribute in a “positive way”. It also disapproves of “foul language or inappropriate topics” and states how employees reserve the right to take disciplinary action if individuals have a negative impact on society.

If you’re playing a role to participate in community discussion in the Pokémon Forums, you’ll need to sign in or create a Pokémon Trainer Club account. Have you checked these forums yet? Are you at all surprised that spam has actually been sent? Comment below.
