Officials said the July 4th celebration in downtown Nashville was delayed due to weather

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) — Officials have released the new schedule for Nashville’s Let Freedom Sing! The Fourth of July happened on a Tuesday night due to a weather delay.

  • Brad Paisley 8:35-9:50 p.m
  • Nashville Symphony 9:50 p.m
  • Fireworks 9:55-10:25 p.m

Nashville officials said Let Freedom Sing! The Fourth of July event has been postponed due to lightning in the area.

Song Let Freedom Sing! Music City 4th” celebration is expected to bring over 250,000 people to downtown Nashville.

Hundreds of Metro Nashville Police officers will be patrolling for added security. They are asking everyone to stay alert because this area will be crowded with people. If you see something suspicious, speak to a nearby officer or call 615-880-1515. It will put you in touch with a nearby MNPD command post.

“I would say there is a good police presence and I would say everyone is in that mood so you have to take that for what it is and think we are in a good place, good people, looking to have a good time,” said Jorge Basto, the visitor from Atlanta.

The MNPD reminds everyone that fireworks are illegal for public use in Davidson County. However, they don’t want people to call 911 to report fireworks. First responders want to keep these lines open for emergencies. Alternatively, submit a complaint online to Hey Nashville.

People driving on the shoulders of the highway should not stop to watch the fireworks display because stopping or parking on the highway is inherently dangerous. The interstate loop on the east side of downtown will close for approximately one hour beginning 30 minutes before the fireworks display. The closure will affect four intersections: Shelby Street, James Robertson Parkway, Woodland Street/Highway and Ellington Parkway/Spring Street.

If you plan to go out today and celebrate the fourth, leave your backpacks and coolers at home. Refillable water bottles are allowed so you can stay hydrated throughout the day.
