Nissan has I made a new plan To electrify 16 of the 30 vehicles it produces by 2026, with the rest using internal combustion instead. For those of us in North America, the company says it plans to launch seven new vehicles in the US and Canada, though it's not clear how many of them will be some type of electric vehicle.
Nissan says the U.S. is getting “electric and hybrid power models” — each of which uses a mix of electricity and fuel to generate power. Right now, Nissan's only electric vehicles are the Ariya SUV and the perhaps-endangered (or maybe not) Leaf.
In 2021, Nissan said it will manufacture 23 electric cars by 2030, 15 of which will be manufactured completely Electric, rather than some form of hybrid vehicle. It's hard to say whether any of this represents a step forward from that plan, because yes, 16 is bigger than 15, but Nissan doesn't explicitly say how many of those 16 are all batteries, or indeed if any of them are. We asked Nissan, but they did not immediately respond.
However, the company said it expects 60% of its cars to be “electrified” by 2030, compared to its promise of 50% by the same deadline. It also raised the total number of electric vehicles to 34 by the same year.
