Nipsey Hussle death: A man convicted of killing the rapper has been sentenced

(CNN) The man who was found guilty of shooting rapper Nipsey Hussle was sentenced to 60 years in prison during a court hearing on Wednesday.

The jury decided that Eric Ronald Holder Jr Hussle was shot outside the hip-hop artist’s clothing store In March 2019. Prosecutors alleged that Holder approached Hassell over allegations that he called him a snitch.

Holder was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison for the Hussle shooting and an additional 25 years for firearm improvements added to the charge. He was also found guilty of two counts of attempted murder for injuring two other men in the incident, and was sentenced to an additional 10 years in prison.

Holder’s father filed a letter with the court apologizing on behalf of his son.

“I know there are not enough words or apologies to fill the emptiness, the loss, the pain, and the deep grief that the family of Ermias Asghedom (Nipsey Hussle) is experiencing. You cannot imagine the agony, the grief, the utter disbelief, and the utter disbelief and disbelief I feel devastated knowing my son is,” said the letter, which was read aloud to the record. Holder’s father also detailed the circumstances of his son’s childhood, talked about his mental health and noted that his son’s mother had died two months before Hussell was shot.

Holder was found guilty in July 2022 of first degree murder in the shooting of the late rapper.

Hassell, born Ermias Joseph Ashgom, was fatally shot on March 31, 2019 in South Los Angeles. He was 33 years old.

A father of two and a successful businessman, Hussle was the founder of the All Money In record label.

Hussle has collaborated with dozens of artists over his career, including Kendrick Lamar, Drake, YG, Ty Dolla Sign, Meek Mill, and Young Thug.
