U.S.Scandinavian emergency services say a U.S. military plane carrying four people involved in NATO maneuvers in Norway has gone missing on Friday.
“The US military plane, US OSPREY, was reported missing south of Bodo at 6.26pm (1726 GMT)” (north), according to a report by the Northern Norwegian Rescue Services (HRS), with bad weather in the area. .
Four people were on board as part of the Exercise Gold Response exercise, which involved 200 aircraft and about 50 ships.
“Discoveries were made from the air (missing area) at Gratadellan in Bourn at 9.17pm. Due to the weather, the site could not be lowered,” the report said, adding that help would come.
“We are not at the site, so we do not know anything about the four people on board, but we know it was an accident site,” HRS spokesman Jan Eskil Severinsen told NRK Public Television.
The Gold Response 2022 exercise aims to test Norway’s ability to obtain external reinforcements in the event of a third country occupation under Article 5 of the NATO Charter.
