Monster Hunter Wilds has been announced for PS5, Xbox, and PC alongside the first trailer | Game Awards 2023

It’s time for more monster hunting, this time in the desert. Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Wilds during The Game Awards 2023, confirming that the latest installment in its popular RPG series is heading to Xbox, PS5 and PC via Steam in 2025.

The first-ever trailer showed the player riding a new bird-like mount across the desert while chased by a dust storm, trapped by the storm and dodging lightning before escaping into a panoramic view of the wilderness. All of this, of course, while being surrounded by herds of monsters, including what may be a new form of Arzuros. It all sounds great, but we’ll have to wait for more information about Monster Hunter Wilds until the summer of next year.

Monster Hunter Wilds borrows from Monster Hunter World, which helped catapult the series into the mainstream when it launched on Xbox and PlayStation 4 back in 2018. Monster Hunter World has been praised for its distinct presentation, creating a new generation of fans for what It existed previously. It was a relatively niche series. Capcom also released Monster Hunter Rise for Nintendo Switch and other platforms.

First released on PlayStation 2, Monster Hunter found its audience on handheld devices like PlayStation Portable due to its co-op elements, pitting up to four players using a variety of weapons against a group of giant monsters. Monster Hunter World surpassed 17 million unit sales in 2021.
