Dolphins already had several contestants competing to start the team in 2022. Then the club went and signed the Sony Michel contract last week.

Michel played in an attacking system similar with the Rams to what new coach Mike McDaniel did in Miami. McDaniel said at his press conference Tuesday that the Dolphins were very happy to add back with Michelle’s skill and expertise.

“Sonny, you have an off-season opportunity to add a player of his caliber and pedigree — just as a human and multiple Super Bowl winner, we jumped at that opportunity. His interests fit ours,” McDaniel said. “And the competition for the Miami Dolphins is only a good thing. And I think there’s something unique about that particular room, which is not staying out of the competition. Everyone out there is excited about the attack and the chances and they want the best man to win. And they don’t back down from that.”

The Rams acquired Michelle from the Patriots last August. He rushed for 845 yards with four touchdowns in the regular season, and also scored 21 receptions for 128 yards with TD. In the postseason, Michel rushed for 80 yards and made three passes.

Dolphins have too Chase EdmondsAnd Rahim MostertAnd Miles GaskinAnd Salfoon AhmedAnd Jared Doakes, and ZaQuandre White in running back. Competing for the center through the offseason program and bootcamp can make a strong impression on the outside.
