Martin in ‘Beautiful Night’ at Arsenal Stadium | Interview | News

Martin Odegaard said it was a beautiful night at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, as we beat Lens 6-0 to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

He said: “It was a beautiful night at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League.” “There’s a lot to play for and we started strong, so it was a solid game on our part.

“It was crazy to be honest, but we did well. The intensity and tempo we played with and what we did inside the boxes was fantastic. We wanted to keep doing the same thing in the second half, but the game was a bit different, and the performance was solid.

“We knew what we were playing for today, so we were able to do it and of course we are very happy now.”

After scoring, Odegaard passed the late penalty kick to Jorginho to score six different goalscorers.

“Yes, I think it was good for him as well. Like I said, the difference in goalscorers all day long, that’s good for the team and good for confidence, so I’m happy to see that.

Asked how proud he was to have led the team through their Premier League and Champions League campaigns, Martin said: “I couldn’t be prouder, to be honest.

“It’s amazing to play for this club, and of course to be the captain as well, representing the club. I love this team, I love the club and I love what we do, so it’s great to be part of that. I’m excited for what’s to come.”
