Levi Wright’s mother has revealed the heartbreaking truth about how the little boy fell into the creek where he drowned.

Callie Wright dove to rescue the three-year-old after he disappeared under fast-moving water on their property in Milford, Utah, on May 21.

He survived for 12 days in hospital with a glimmer of hope that he could regain brain function, until he was taken off life support on Sunday.

On Thursday, Calley detailed for the first time how Levi fell into the creek while driving his toy tractor around their 24-acre property.

Three-year-old Levi Wright was seriously injured after driving his toy tractor into a raging river near the family’s home in Beaver County, Utah, on May 21.
His death was confirmed by a family friend on Monday after his grieving parents Callie and Spencer Wright decided to take them off life support on Sunday.

She explained that the creek separates her and her husband, rodeo star Spencer Wright’s, property from Levy’s grandparents’ property.

A road crosses the creek and sometimes, depending on the water level, covers the road at the crossing – as happened on May 21.

My kids have [ridden] “They rode their bikes, rode their toys, and even walked this way a million times,” she wrote on Facebook.

“The water only flows for a short time during the year and can change overnight.

“Levi didn’t do anything he hadn’t done before, but this time the water was at its peak and strong enough to push his tractor off the road and into the creek as it passed.”

Callie, who didn’t know the water level, told Levi not to go over the creek because his grandmother wasn’t home, and to just walk around the house.

However, Levi, being the liberal little kid he was, didn’t listen.

While he was driving, I ran back home. “This decision will haunt me for the rest of my life,” Kaley wrote.

“At that moment it was my responsibility alone. Whether I went back to check on my sleeping baby, change laundry, wash a bottle, or stock up on lunch, I honestly don’t know.

“Whatever it was, it was never more important than following through on that day.”

Millions around the world followed the little boy’s 12-day struggle for survival

Callie wrote that although she believed God had predetermined the outcome of each person’s life, including when it would end, He still kept her up at night.

“I will lose sleep over this forever, but I know three things are true,” she wrote, addressing the people who criticized her actions that day.

Firstly, I am not a perfect mother but I am a good one. Second, my little boy loved me with everything he had.

“Third, never say never, because it only takes seconds and it could happen to you too.

“I pray that anyone who judges me or has hurtful words to say will never find themselves on the receiving end of a nightmare like this.”

The dinosaur-loving toddler was taken by ambulance to Beaver County Hospital before being airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

The initial diagnosis was devastating as doctors concluded that he had suffered brain death due to oxygen deprivation while underwater.

But his heart was beating on its own, and Levi’s father said the family “received many small miracles” and that doctors were “surprised by the steps he took.”

Then on May 24, the family believed they had gotten the miracle they had been praying for.

“Wake up Levi!” Kaley posted: “I was shocked, we don’t know much but the doctor said it’s okay for me to get excited about it and I am!” My baby is so difficult!

“He got a little wild so we had to calm him down again but my heart!”

“He actually woke up while we were talking to one of the doctors about his love of excavators and tractors!”

But just hours later they received even sadder news.

“The MRI was not good,” Cali wrote.

“We are devastated, but they are just images that indicate a certain quality of life. The real reason behind all of this is what Levi does over the course of a few days.

Callie posted again last Thursday when another brain scan showed a slight improvement.

“They are keeping Levi comfortable and tried to stop the sedation but he wouldn’t handle it,” she wrote.

“It was heartbreaking to watch and now he is severely numb until the next step.”

Finally, on Sunday, Callie and Spencer made the decision they’d been dreading.

“After many sleepless nights, much research, multiple conversations with the best neurologists in the world, and millions of prayers, here we are facing our greatest fears,” she wrote.

“Here soon I will climb into bed with my baby and hold him as he naps for the last time on this earth.

Levi has shown us enough to give us time for all of this.

We prayed that he would defy the odds and prove to us that he wanted to stay here. But we see now that he wanted to give us time to find peace by letting him go.

“I told you my child was caring and considerate, and I truly believe he did that for us.”

Family friend Mindy Sue Clark broke the news of Levi’s death in a Facebook post at 8:14 a.m. on Monday.

“I don’t want to focus on what’s bad or sad, even though I feel like someone ripped my heart out and squeezed it right in front of me,” she wrote.

“I want to focus on the many miracles we all witnessed during those 12 days. The response Levi’s story got was absolutely amazing.

‘Levi Spencer Wright – March 24, 2021 – June 02, 2024. The cutest three-year-old ever. So perfect we couldn’t keep it.

“I don’t want to focus on what’s bad or sad, even though I feel like someone ripped out my heart and squeezed it right in front of me.

“Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people surrounded our little friend, lifted him up in prayer, and threw their loving arms around Levi and his family.

“Here soon I will be climbing into bed with my baby and holding him as he naps for the last time on this earth,” Kaley wrote on Sunday.

“We’ve never seen or experienced anything like it before. I don’t know that we’ll ever be able to fully process it.”

“I’m so grateful to have been his ‘Auntie Mindy’ all along.” This is a blessing I will never be able to get over.

Friends gathered for a series of fundraisers for Callie, Spencer and their two other children, leaving the family amazed at the outpouring of love.

“During this time, he brought out humanity across the country, brought many people to their knees and reminded them of what truly matters in this world,” Calley wrote.

We will miss him every second of every day here but we feel without a doubt that this is the best thing we can do for him.

“We love you, little bean.” I will miss you like a crazy friend!
