Kelly Clarkson is thrilled to learn that Patrick Dempsey has been crowned Sexiest Man Alive 2023.
The 41-year-old talk show host – who recently made his major weight loss debut – spoke with Access Hollywood While attending the SiriusXM Next Generation: Industry & Press Preview.
During the interview on the red carpet, the singer expressed her shock that Dempsey (57 years old) had not received this honor before.
“He’s never had that?” she asked. ‘What?! This is so shocking to me that he has never done this before. I thought this would be like the second or third time. Boy, we really messed this up.
She also jokingly brought up 2017 winner Blake Shelton, saying, “And Blake got it!” Before quickly clarifying: “I’m just kidding!” I’m kidding! Blake deserves it.
Kelly also praised the former Grey’s Anatomy actor, noting that he has great hair.
The title of “Sexiest Man Alive” comes to Dempsey after it was awarded last year to Chris Evans.
He admitted he was shocked when he received the honor and joked that he was “always a bridesmaid” while talking about finally receiving the award.
‘I’ve always been the bridesmaid!’ I completely forgot about it and never thought I would be in this situation. “So my ego is good,” he said.
He is the second oldest star to hold the title. Sean Connery was named the Sexiest Man Alive in 1989 when he was 59 years old.
Patrick’s role as the magazine’s Sexiest Star was announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night.
The show featured an appearance by the former Grey’s Anatomy leading man, 57, while the issue’s cover was shown.
“Thank you so much,” the actor, who is a father to daughter Tallulah, 21, and twin sons Darby and Sullivan, 16, with wife Gillian, 57, said after sharing the news.
As for Kelly, she recently turned heads with her transformational shedding of excess weight.
On Monday’s episode of her eponymous talk show, she linked up with Jenna Bush Hager over her “fat” phase.
The Stronger discussed her weight struggles with the Today With Hoda & Jenna co-host and admitted that she “loves losing weight.”
She said in June 2018 additional Most of her weight gain was due to the autoimmune disease and thyroid condition she was diagnosed with in 2006.
