Today, Google began informing customers (in the US) of the Nest Aware price increase. This monthly or annual subscription enhances your Nest Cams, doorbells, smart displays, and speakers.
A basic Nest Aware subscription now costs $8 per month or $80 per year (a savings of $16). Pricing was previously $6 per month and $60 per year since the fixed pricing structure change, which was announced at Made by Google 2019 and rolled out in May 2020. This gives you a 30-day video history of events.
Meanwhile, Nest Aware Plus now costs $15 per month or $150 per year (a savings of $30), compared to $12 per month and $120 per year. The big upgrade here is up to 10 days of 24/7 video history and 60 days of event video history.
Common functions include intelligence alerts for familiar faces, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, glass breakage, as well as e911.
Google explains the Nest Aware price increase this way: “Subscription prices can change to keep pace with market shifts, which can include inflation and local tax updates.”
There are no changes “if you receive Nest Aware service through one of our partners, such as ADT.” the Increase pricing Valid for new subscribers starting today. For existing customers:
- “This new rate will take effect on your next bill occurring on or after November 6, 2023.”
- “For other countries or territories: We will notify you via email at least 30 days before the price increases.”
Google encourages Nest Aware (1st generation) subscribers to upgrade:
Now is a good time to consider upgrading your current 1st generation plan to the latest version of Nest Aware. By switching to the latest Nest Aware subscription, you’ll now enjoy a simpler flat rate that covers all compatible Nest cameras, speakers, doorbells and displays. You’ll also have access to an increasing number of new, smart alerts and features like voice detection and emergency calling (US only).
