David Lee Roth criticizes Wolfgang Van Halen in bizarre video

David Lee Roth doesn't talk about love when it comes to Wolfgang Van Halen.

The 32-year-old Van Halen singer slammed the musician — who not only served as the band's guitarist for several years, but is also the son of the late Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli — in sound clip He posted it on his YouTube channel on Wednesday. Among his list of complaints, Roth cited two examples in which he claimed Wolfgang showed poor judgment while the group was on tour.

Roth began his verbal tirade with a veiled jab at Wolfgang for getting his spot in Van Halen through nepotism in a satirical interview with Jesus Christ. During their conversation, the clergyman claims that it was Wolfgang's “talents” that got him to the party, not “God,” and Roth sarcastically agrees.

However, after the fake interview, Roth broadcast the interview TRUE Feelings for Wolfgang.

“This kid—in!” “He's been complaining about the whole tour like I'm not paying enough attention to him on stage,” he said. “I'm giving him the best, everything I've got, in front of twenty or thirty thousand people on video, and he's complaining to everyone around me — the business manager, the security guy, the clothing saleswoman — ‘Dave's not that.'” Paying enough attention to me.

Roth then claimed that Wolfgang once kicked out his guests at one of the group's parties in New York City. “This kid schlemiel,” he said, calling his former bandmate an “idiot” in Yiddish, whom I invited to be my guests at the show.

He revealed that the women were more than just Ruth's special guests. “Actually, you're not going to believe this—. And he said, 'This damn kid, what he doesn't know is that these two ladies work at the accounting firm that represents him, not me.'” But as usual, just like his uncle and cousin, he pushed them to get the tickets”.

“He's teaching me a lesson,” Roth added. “What the damn kid doesn't know? They're holding the paychecks of all 82 people on the road crew.

Roth then claimed that Wolfgang kicked out guests a second time when the band was performing in Los Angeles. “We're at the Hollywood Bowl, and I'm about to start the movie Ice Cream Man, and this damn kid!” He said. “He grabs two muscle monkeys, and locates the lady who is my guest. She was at the Hollywood Bowl Suites, and they found her, and they made her walk naked in front of all the other guests and out into the parking lot, and they threw her out of the building.

“Wolfy Van Halen is going to teach me a lesson by getting rid of what he thinks is my girlfriend,” he continued. “Guess what? Not only is this an accountant again, and not only does it handle the payroll of 82 members of the road crew, but it carries cash bonuses for everyone out there.

He concluded, “You might want to stop at this next one—you're going to pee your pants. Remember New York City? It's the same damned lady. This kid—ing. That damn kid!”

Representatives for Roth and Wolfgang did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

The members of Van Halen have always been that way unique – and often, arduous relationships – with each other. Roth previously left to pursue a solo career following the success of the band's album 1984but returned for a period in 1996 and then took over as band leader again from 2007 until 2020. In 2006, Eddie hired his son, Wolfgang, to replace founding guitarist Michael Anthony, sparking further controversy.

Wolfgang played with Van Halen until the group disbanded after his father's death in 2020. He then went on to create his own band, Mammoth WVH, which released its debut album in 2021.
