Jets' CJ Mosley was on the wrong side of the final score Thursday night, but he couldn't help but feel good about one of the players who beat him.
Moseley and Browns quarterback Joe Flacco were teammates with the Ravens from 2014-18 and again with the Jets the past two years, so he was sure to find Flacco after the Browns clinched a playoff spot with a 37-20 win. Browns fans were chanting Flacco's name during the game and Mosley told Flacco “this is crazy” as they hugged. Flacco agreed with his former teammate, who spoke about his feelings during his post-match comments.
“everyone Always jokingEven in Baltimore, was he elite?” Mosley said, via Jake Trotter of ESPN.com. “He shows it. There's not a lot of guys, especially veterans like him and his age, just coming home from home, hanging out with his kids, doing what he did. I told him after the game it was crazy to hear the Browns fans screaming, 'Flaco!'” “It's very strange for me, but I'm happy for him. Obviously we wanted to get the win, but as a friend and fan, I'm definitely happy for him.”
Flacco's story is one of the best stories of the 2023 season and some may wonder if the Jets would have done better by approaching him about returning in the wake of Aaron Rodgers' injury, but Moseley chose a different path when everything was going well. It was all said and done in Cleveland on Thursday night.
