China moves boundary line in South China Sea again, angering neighbors – Business AM

A new world map shared by Beijing shows that 90% of the South China Sea will be part of China’s sovereignty. Neighboring countries consider this card illegal and describe it as ridiculous.

Why is this important?

The South China Sea has long been the subject of regional debate in Asia. Each of the countries bordering this sea has its own idea about the location of the border, but China is very assertive.

  • The Chinese map is 1,500 km. For China, this line is based on historical maps. The line starts at Hainan Island in southern China and passes through the exclusive maritime zones of Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. This is a new provocation in the area.
