Balcony spouses appear in court again for spreading sex tape: “We reserve our interpretations to the court”

Patrick and Isabelle Balgani back in court: Patrick, 74, and Isabelle Balgani, 75, are on trial for “using a document related to images of a sexual nature and obtaining by invasion of privacy the lives of others.”

It is suspected that they broadcast this photo set in February 2021 with the intention of harming David-Xavier Weiss, the current first spouse of Levallois Mayor, a former ally turned political opponent of Balconi.

Since his departure from Levallois’ town hall in 2020, Mr. Balkani has taken to social media to criticize him and his team several times.

During the investigation, the Balconi spouses explained that they found the photos in an envelope in a mailbox and then sent them to several people and especially Agnes Bottier-Dumas to warn her.

A few days later, Mr. Weiss filed a complaint for disclosure of a sexually suggestive document.

“We deny any wrongdoing and reserve our explanations to the court,” Robin Pinchardt, who is representing the balcony wives with Romain Dudon, told AFP.

Patrick Balgani, mayor and vice-president of Levallois for thirty years (1983-1995 and 2001-2020), is currently being prosecuted in two other cases in Nanterre.

Already accused of “misappropriation of public property or funds by a person holding public authority”, he has been charged in another case of “misappropriation of corporate property” and “unlawful acquisition of benefits”.

Last January, the Paris Court of Appeal reduced the sentences of Patrick and Isabelle Balgani for tax evasion and expressed confusion with the sentences imposed for tax evasion in the first part of the case.

They were sentenced to four-and-a-half and three-and-a-half years in prison, respectively, as well as a fine of 100,000 euros each and ten years of disqualification.
