Apple Service Outage: Apple Music, App Store, and more are down

Update, 6:48 p.m. PT: Apple has updated Its system status site to acknowledge the outage affecting Apple Music and iTunes Match. It did not acknowledge outages affecting other services.

Apple is battling what appears to be a major outage affecting the App Store, Apple Music, the Apple Developer site, and more. Apple has yet to update its system status webpage to acknowledge the outage, but social media is full of complaints from frustrated Apple users…

Apple Music, App Store, and more are down

According to a number of reports on social media, services affected by the outage include: Apple Music, Apple Support website, App Store, TestFlight, Apple Developer website, Apple Store website, and more.

Reports were too grouped by bottom detector, indicating that most complaints started appearing before 6pm PST. In some cases, the website or app will eventually load, while other times it will fail completely.

In the App Store, for example, many users see errors when trying to download or update any app. Apple Music presents similar errors. Across the board, the issues appear to be related to SSL certificates, with Apple saying: “An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made.”

Today’s outages come after Apple experienced outages in the Weather app for the past week. Services like iMessage and iCloud Photos also experienced downtime last week due to a separate outage.

Having any problems accessing things like Apple Music and the App Store today? Let us know in the comments. We’ll be sure to update this story when (or if) Apple acknowledges the outage via its System Status site.
