(NewsNation) — Shannon Doherty, who lost her years-long battle with breast cancer last week, knew she was dying and was very specific about her funeral wishes about who she would do — and she didn’t. no – I want an invitation.
On her radio show, “Let’s Get Real,” she said, “There are a lot of people who I think are going to come to the funeral but I don’t want them there. I don’t want them there because their reasons for coming aren’t necessarily the best reasons… Like they don’t really like me, you know, they have their reasons, but they don’t actually like me enough to come to my funeral.”
Doherty did not name names but added: “(They will show up) because it’s the politically correct thing to do, and they don’t want to look bad, so I want to take the pressure off them and I want my funeral to be like a love fest,” she added. “I don’t want people to cry or people to say in private, ‘Thank God that b**** is dead now.'”
And I can give you two names of people who won’t get an invite: Jennie Garth and Alyssa Milano.
The day Doherty’s death was announced, her former “Beverly Hills, 90210” co-star Garth posted a photo of the two of them from the ’90s on Instagram. Instagram “I am still processing my immense grief over the loss of my longtime friend Shannen, a woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known. Our relationship was so real and honest. We were competitive with each other so much but none of that reflected the reality of our true relationship which was built on mutual respect and admiration. She was so brave, passionate, determined, loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and memories. My heart breaks for her family, Bowie and all the people who loved her. 💔”
While fans liked the post by the hundreds, Doherty’s friends were furious.
“They weren’t friends – she did it for the likes,” one said.
Doherty said the people In May, she and Garth put their differences aside and said, “I see (Garth) at conventions, and we talk, you know, laugh… I mean, at those conventions, we work really hard, but we’re all good… Jenny and I were young, and there are things that I probably would have done differently (sic) back then, a long time ago, but I don’t really hold any grudges against anyone from that show.”
However, Doherty’s friends were appalled by Garth’s article.
But the real anger was directed at Milan, who made a statement to Entertainment Weekly He described Doherty as a “talented actress” and “loved by many”.
“It’s no secret that my relationship with Shannon was complicated, but fundamentally she was someone I deeply respected and admired,” Milano said. “She was a talented actress, loved by so many, and the world is a smaller place without her. My condolences to everyone who loved her.”
“This is so disgusting,” one of Doherty’s friends told me. “Alyssa was horrible to Shannen. Always.”
Earlier this year, her “Charmed” co-star Holly Combs, on Doherty’s podcast, revealed the truth and told the world how Milano got Doherty fired from the show after season three.
“(Alyssa) told us that she or (Shanny) threatened to sue us for the hostile work environment.” Combs said producer Jonathan Levine told her,(Milan denies this).
Doherty also alleged that Milano and her mother, Lynn, prevented her from visiting Combs in the hospital after she had a tumor removed from her uterus. Milano’s mother denied the allegations.
So who will be invited to the funeral? Combs, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling, and other real-life friends.
Leslie Sloan, Doherty’s longtime publicist, said, the people“It is with heavy hearts that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of battling the disease. A devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family requests their privacy at this time so that they can grieve in peace.”
