Bob Iger has no love lost for “The Marvels.”
The Disney CEO spoke Thursday at the New York Times DealBook Summit, where he explained the disastrous performance of the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film.
Iger, who returned to the top job at Disney in November 2022, partially Blame The disaster Due to the absence of “oversight”.
“The Marvels was filmed during the coronavirus crisis,” Iger, 72, said. “There wasn’t a lot of supervision on set, so to speak, where we have executives [that are] I really look forward to what is accomplished day after day after day.

Star Iman Vellani, who plays Ms. Marvel, previously said the film’s box office woes were Iger’s problem.
“I don’t want to focus on something that’s not under my control, so what’s the point?” Villani, 21, told Yahoo Entertainment. “This is for Bob Iger.”
The Post called “The Marvels” a “sad study of the downfall of America’s favorite screen franchise,” and the film currently has a 61% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Iger also looked at the success of Disney — which also includes Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Studios — as if it were a thing of the past.
“I’m not sure another studio will achieve some of the numbers we did,” the executive said. “I mean we’ve gotten to the point where if a movie doesn’t make a billion dollars at the global box office, we’re disappointed. That’s an incredibly high bar and I think we have to be more realistic.”
Disney just suffered another embarrassing flop with the animated film “Wish,” starring Ariana DeBose, which has grossed just $51 million so far despite opening during the lucrative Thanksgiving holiday week.
