Ukrainian bombing of center for displaced people in Russia leaves one dead

“Ukrainian armed forces fired artillery at a center for the elderly and children inhabited by displaced people (…) one guard was killed and two others were wounded,” Kladkov said in a telegram.

According to him, both of the injured are in intensive care, one with “penetrating wounds to the abdomen” and the other to the chest.

He accompanied his message with photos of a damaged building with broken windows, an impact crater near a security guard’s cabin, and adults and children being evacuated on buses.

The Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian bombers and infiltration attempts by armed groups from Ukraine.

These bombings and incursions have multiplied in recent weeks as Kyiv says it is preparing a major counteroffensive aimed at driving Russian forces from territories they occupy in Ukraine.

The Russian capital, Moscow, was targeted by an unprecedented drone strike early Tuesday morning that caused minor damage and injured two people, local officials said.
