Iconic Hôtel Martinez in Cannes to Join Hyatt's Unbound Collection
Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced that the French Riviera landmark Hotel Martinez Cannes’ since 2013 would reopen in March as a part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, a global collection of unique and independent stay experiences. Hotel Martinez will be the second European hotel to join the Unbound Collection, the trend launched in 2016, following Paris' Hotel du Louvre. It will also be the sixth in the world.
Each pearl of the collection has its own, unique features. Closed to the public from October, 30th, 2017 to March, 4th 2018, this luxury hotel has a rich historical and cultural past, beaing one o? the main residences on La Croisette for almost 90 years.
It previously served as a home to English aristocrats and, in 1929, luxury hotelier Emmanuel Martinez opened it as the largest hotel in the French Riviera. Hotel Martinez has become a landmark in the French Riviera and has hosted some of the world’s most distinguished guests, which deliver on the brand’s promise of creating story-worthy and shareable experiences for the modern traveler.

Hotel Martinez will be a great addition to The Unbound Collection by Hyatt due to its distinct characteristics and personality. The hotel is iconic and its history is truly incredible – all of which is an ideal brand fit,” said Alessandro Cresta, general manager, Hotel Martinez. “The renovation will focus on preserving and enhancing the original details of the building, all while giving it a fresh twist.
The renovations to the hotel’s 409 guest rooms were designed by Parisian firm Pierre-Yves Rochon. The rooms’ interior décor honors the traditions of French luxury and Italian influence while providing state of the art modern facilities. The spacious white rooms – brightened with touches of sky blue and pale yellow – are furnished to the highest standard and feature exquisite touches of marble, leather, terrazzo and mosaic. The rooms exude the Art Deco grandeur of the 1930s French Riviera and provides dazzling delights of the city.
Pierre-Yves Rochon has designed the interiors of London's Savoy Hotel, the Four Seasons Florence and the Peninsula Shanghai, among others.
Dining and Drinking
Renowned two Michelin star restaurant La Palme d’Or is a highlight of the hotel, serving bold and creative dishes made with local produce in an elegant setting. In fact, it is the only 2-Michelin Star restaurant in Cannes. It features a panoramic terrace with a view overlooking La Croisette and the Mediterranean Sea.
Created in 1985 by Chef Christian Willer, La Palme D’Or was awarded 2 Michelin stars in 1991 and has quickly gained an international reputation. The two chefs have worked together for five years, until Christian Sinicropi took over the restaurant in 2008.

Passionate chef and artist, Christian Sinicropi takes his inspiration from Art, literature and philosophy.
He took classes at the world famous school “Les Beaux Arts” in Vallauris. Together with his wife, he designs and creates the ceramics plates in which the culinary creations of La Palme D’Or are served.

The second restaurant, Le Relais, with a more relaxed atmosphere will offer guests traditional Mediterranean cuisine in a beautiful garden setting. Guests can also soak up the sun while dining at a seasonal club and restaurant located on the hotel’s private beach.

Meeting and Event Spaces
Hotel Martinez features 15 modulated meeting rooms, spanning 26,900 square feet. The event spaces can be utilized for a variety of events ranging from conferences and conventions to cocktail receptions and weddings.
