Jair Bolsonaro is set to testify before federal police on Wednesday in connection with the Jan. 8 riots against key places of power in Brasilia.
“He has to answer for that,” Rowney said, referring to the invasion and acts of vandalism committed by the Polaristas who refused to defeat Jair Bolsonaro a week after Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took office.
The 90-year-old Kayapo chief pointed out that this is a general allegation of the legacy of the former head of state (2019-2022).

The former president denies any role in the riots that led to the arrest of more than 1,800 people. But the prosecution specifically points to a video released on January 10, two days after the riots, by Lula’s election rival Jair Bolsonaro.
Tribal people are “more and more empowered”
Indigenous peoples have been “increasingly empowered” by the return to power of the leftists who were in charge of Brazil between 2003 and 2010, said Chief Ravni, who among others presented Lula with a presidential sash when he was inaugurated on January 1.
A majority of indigenous people supported Lula’s candidacy against Jair Bolsonaro, who promised not to cede an additional centimeter of land to indigenous peoples.
Tribal Peoples Minister Sonia Gujajara recently announced that 14 new indigenous reserves will soon be created, covering an area of 1.5 million hectares.
